It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the shutdown of the Aeven MMORPG Minecraft server for the forseeable future. Effective 6/15/17, the server will no longer be accessible to the public.
Why?
A multitude of reasons led to the decision to discontinue the Aeven server, including a lack of a substantial player base, the limitations brought upon us by the Minecraft & Spigot plugin engine, and a lack of funding for dedicated hosting that we were satisfied with. Aeven is such a massive project that it was hard to maintain and grow, especially within Minecraft, which is an engine that limits our abilities and makes things that would be simple in a standard game engine into difficult feats.
What’s next?
As of right now, the Aeven Team has begun work on a new unannounced project that hopes to bring some of the same great ideas that went into Aeven to the general gaming community, outside of Minecraft. This new project will be much smaller in scale compared to Aeven, but we are confident it will bring you the same sense of wonder and joy that Aeven did. If you are interested, you should stay on this Discord server or follow our Twitter account. Both will be transformed to reflect the new project when it is announced. We are also planning to redesign the website to promote the new project.
Will Aeven ever return?
It’s possible. But for now, we are dedicated to our new project. Our long term goal is to have Aeven come alive in some form in the future.
What about the stuff I bought?
Thanks for your support of Aeven! We are going to be compensating you in the new project. More details will be revealed regarding this when it is announced.
